Capability

A capability is a unit of work that can be delivered within a single calendar quarter. It’s achieved by breaking it down into smaller user stories. For Scrum teams, completing a capability typically takes one to six sprints.

Recommended Capability Format
  • Capability level user story (why/what)
    • As a … I want… so that….
  • Description/Context (Why/What):
    • Briefly explain the purpose and context of the capability. This can be the same description provided in the capability card.
  • What We Want to Achieve (What)
    • List of items in scope of this capability (in-scope section from the capability card)
  • Design Notes (What/How):
    • Outline the high-level design considerations for the epic.
  • Tech Notes (How):
    • Briefly describe the technical considerations for implementing the epic.
  • NFRs/Other Considerations (what)
